[U]Tech Quick Facts for Working Remotely

  • Informational/training sessions focused on the tools needed to work remotely will be offered today, Thursday, July 14th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, July 15th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the [U]Tech CARE Center located on the Lower Level of the Kelvin Smith Library.
  • When working remotely, please note that VPN and DUO are not needed for most web based applications, including Google Calendar, Email, Blackboard, ERP, FIN, and HCM. Only the services listed below require CWRU Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Duo Security: 
    • Campus File Shares (eg. Sicily or departmental server shares)
    • Software Center
    • Library Licensed Resources
    • Printing to on-campus printers

  • If you are working remotely, please consider forwarding your office phone calls to your cell phone or home phone. Call Forwarding Instructions
  • Please consider printing your staff directory to make sure you have key, support phone numbers at your fingertips in case you cannot access this list electronically. 
  • Before leaving your office to work remotely for an extended period of time, please consider packing the following: 
    • Laptop
    • Laptop charging cable
    • Necessary working files and reference materials
    • USB or external drives
