Damian Junk, PhD, Named Associate Director of Administration for Case Comprehensive Cancer Center

Damian Junk, PhD, is the new Associate Director of Administration for Case CCC, bringing more than a decade of cancer center experience and a strong record of building collaborative programs that support its research and education missions.

In his new role, Junk will help guide the administrative operations and strategic priorities of the NCI-designated consortium comprehensive cancer center. Working with cancer leadership from Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals and Cleveland Clinic, he will help coordinate initiatives spanning research administration, shared resources, training and education, community outreach and engagement, communications, finance and other functions essential to Case CCC's mission.

Junk will also play an important role in supporting the Cancer Center Support Grant and Case CCC’s relationship with the National Cancer Institute, strengthening collaboration among consortium institutions, advancing strategic initiatives and ensuring that administrative operations continue to support Case CCC's scientific priorities.

Junk most recently served as Assistant Director of Cancer Training and Education. A PhD scientist trained in cancer biology, he brought his experience as both a researcher and former trainee to the development of a nationally recognized comprehensive cancer training and education program serving learners across career stages.

During his tenure, Junk has helped develop and lead programs in mentoring, career development, curriculum development and research training while working closely with scientific leadership to align training opportunities with Case CCC's research priorities and the needs of its Northeast Ohio catchment area.

That combination of scientific training, institutional knowledge and experience working across programs and partners positions Junk well for a role that requires coordination across the complex Case CCC consortium.

In his new position, Junk will work closely with Case CCC Director Gary K. Schwartz, MD, the executive committee, associate directors, program leaders, shared resource directors and administrative teams across the consortium to strengthen operations, foster collaboration and advance Case CCC's research, education and community missions. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Junk in his new role.
