The Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence will award two prizes for the best papers in the ethics of existing and emerging technologies from current graduate and professional students and recent graduates. We aim to promote active consideration of the ethical, legal, and societal implications (ELSI) in the research and development of technology, including:
- robotics
- computer science
- data science
- engineering
- biomedical engineering
- medicine
- human enhancement
- augmented/virtual reality
- novel materials
- artificial intelligence
In an effort to foster global discussion of pressing issues on these topics and accessibility in languages other than English, the Inamori Center publishes the winning papers, in print and online, in multiple languages. The Inamori Center will publish the first place winning paper and an abstract of the second place winning paper in multiple languages as a special volume of The International Journal of Ethical Leadership. The 2019 - 2022 prize winners were published in English, French, and Spanish. We anticipate the 2024 and 2025 papers will be published in these languages and potentially others.
