Texas Heart Institute at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is ranked in the top 25 adult cardiology and heart surgery hospitals in the United States and is nationally ranked in three adult specialties by U.S. News & World Report.

Texas Heart Institute was founded in 1962 by world-renowned cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Denton A. Cooley. The institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing cardiovascular disease through innovative programs in research, education, and patient care.

The institute is recognized internationally for its research programs in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, stem cell and gene therapy, and regenerative medicine. THI is also home to translational basic and clinical research programs, which are illuminating the underlying causes of heart diseases and key initiatives for prevention.

Texas Heart Institute and Case Western Reserve University

Texas Heart Institute and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center are both committed to education. THI maintains initiatives that range from postdoctoral and continued medical education to public outreach and scientific publications, and, as such, is dedicated to spreading awareness and sharing updates on methods for preventing and treating cardiovascular disease.

The Master of Science in Anesthesia Program has maintained a close relationship with Texas Heart Institute, which serves as a key clinical site and specialty rotation for our Houston students.
