September was the hottest month in recorded history. Last summer, smoke from Canadian forest fires blanketed the United States. Maui ignited. Libya was flooded by rains of biblical dimensions. Sea levels rose as glaciers and ice sheets melted at an accelerating rate. The world’s great rivers and lakes are drying up, while climate migrants are pouring across borders.
Is it too late to stop climate change? What can the international community do to respond to this existential global crisis? In the next broadcast of “Talking Foreign Policy,” Case Western Reserve University School of Law Co-Dean Michael Scharf and a panel of experts will seek to answer these critically important questions. The show will air Monday, Nov. 20, at 9 a.m. and again at 9 p.m.
For the upcoming broadcast, Scharf will be joined by special guest John Knox, who served as the inaugural United Nations Special Rapporteur for Human Rights and the Environment. The other guests will be:
- Paul Williams, president of the Public International Law & Policy Group;
- Shannon French, director of the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence;
- Milena Sterio, international law expert and professor at Cleveland State University; and
- Michael Kelly, international law expert and professor at Creighton University.
Talking Foreign Policy is broadcast on Cleveland’s NPR Station, WKSU 89.7 FM in Cleveland, and its syndicates throughout Ohio. It is streamed worldwide from ideastream Public Media. It is also available to listen to as a podcast anytime after it airs.
