Book collecting contest from Kelvin Smith Library

Case Western Reserve University Students who have built a collection of 10-50 books based on a theme are encouraged to enter a book collecting contest sponsored by Kelvin Smith Library. Cash prizes for the top three collections will be awarded, including a $700 first prize for an undergraduate and graduate winner. Winners are eligible to participate in the National Collegiate Book Collecting Contest.

To enter the contest, students must submit an essay that describes the theme of the collection and provide an annotated bibliography for the books in the collection, including full bibliographic information and a brief explanation of how each book fits the collection theme. Your collection does not need to be valuable or rare—the important part is that it fits your theme.

Entries must be submitted by Friday, March 22, at 5 p.m.

Winners will be announced the week of  April 1, and an event will be held on the afternoon of April 11 to award prizes. A pop-up exhibit featuring items from student book collections will be on display at the event.
