Think Big About Student Life

In December 2018, under the direction of Provost Ben Vinson III, Case Western Reserve University commenced a nontraditional strategic planning process which culminated in 2019 with the launch of Think Big —a bold new path to chart the future of our campus.

Many conversations and initiatives resulted in the Think Big framework consisting of three major components:our North Star, Agora Academics, and four pathways. Because the work of student life so closely aligns with the university priorities, our newest strategic plan is a reflection of these shared goals and our roadmap which will ultimately lead to our North Star: Case Western Reserve is a high-impact research university that aspires to be a community where humanity, science and technology meet to create a just and thriving world.

Additionally, because the work student affairs and student success professionals do outside of the classroom is critical to the success of our students, both divisions have chosen to collaborate on a Student Life strategic plan to engage divisional staff, students, campus and community partners, faculty members and parents in a dialogue to define the future direction and priorities for our work.

Strategic Anchors

The student life strategic plan is built around three strategic anchors, which serve as a distillation of the goals of our work in student affairs and student success, as well as aspirational statements for what our divisions hope to become.

Our strategic anchors aim to inspire students to:

Aspiration statements accompany each anchor and serve as a guide for student life efforts at CWRU into the future. Each statement reflects a value related to the discovery of what already works best and what more is to come.
