Letter to Applicants

Dear Applicant,

Congratulations on reaching the exciting step of applying for internship! I know
you have worked very hard and long during your program to get to this point.
Internship is the culmination of all your efforts and I hope you find the right fit for
your personal and professional goals.

As training director, I view my role as making sure you have the support, training,
and supervision to have a successful internship year. I have a deep passion for
training and enjoy giving back to the profession through equipping the next
generation of psychologists with the knowledge, skills, and critical reflection
necessary to provide care for a diverse student population. I consider it an honor
to serve in this role during such a pivotal stage of your development. My goal is
that interns leave our program with a solid sense of who they are as clinicians,
with increased competence in their clinical skills, with the ability to work more
autonomously, and with a deep appreciation for viewing clients (and themselves)
within their cultural context.

As a training site, we integrate a developmental approach into every aspect of our
training program. We care deeply about the work we do and appreciate the
opportunity to provide clinical services to undergraduate, graduate, and
professional students. We value teamwork, consultation, and collaboration. We
also love to eat and laugh together.

Thank you for considering the APA-Accredited Doctoral Internship in Health
Service Psychology at CWRU University Health & Counseling Services. Please
review our UHCS internship brochure for specific program information. Please
don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly (naomi.drakeford@case.edu) if you
have any questions about our program.

I wish you all the best in finding the right fit for your internship year.

Naomi
