Adding Files or Folders

File and Folder Management

With Box at CWRU, you have the ability to create folders.

Some guidance:

  • When creating and sharing personal files that will not be needed by those at CWRU for operations, create a folder for your personal use and set permissions however you would like.
  • When creating and sharing files that will be needed for current or future operations (such as a folder for a group to share work information or to house project information), create a folder and set permissions so that the data will be available after your Box account is decommissioned. This should be accomplished by setting multiple co-owners. Those co-owners should actively manage access. If all co-owners of a folder leave the university, files will be deleted. So, keep co-owners updated.
  • When creating and sharing files that contain restricted information, request a folder by contacting the Service Desk at 216.368.HELP. You will need to identify two co-owners for that folder and a folder name. Do not create your own folders for restricted data. Note: Restricted data in Box should only be accessed through the web interface. Examples of Restricted Data
