Since joining Case Western Reserve University in July 2005, Joan Schenkel has been dedicated to supporting and enhancing research. Currently, she serves as the associate vice president for research in the Office of Research and Technology Management, where she oversees the Office of Research Administration. She develops and implements programs, processes and policies to expand interdisciplinary research while ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
Schenkel and her teams are responsible for overseeing financial and regulatory compliance of research at the university; supporting researchers in finding and securing funding for their work; and providing training and resources across the research enterprise.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Dickinson College and her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from McDaniel College.
