Kim Volarcik joined the Office of Research and Technology Management in 2004. She is the University’s research compliance officer. Kim oversees the University’s Human Research Protection Program by providing leadership and strategic initiatives for the CWRU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Quality Improvement Program (QIP), Reliant Review Agreement Program, CWRU clinical trials records registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, and the IRB Advisory Committee.
Kim is an adjunct instructor in the Department of Bioethics and teaches the graduate course “Research Ethics and Regulation.” She serves as a lead site visitor and conducts Step 1 Reviews for the Association for Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AARHPP) for institutions going through the initial and re-accreditation processes. Kim is also an executive coach and provides coaching sessions for faculty, staff, and students.
Kim received her bachelor in the science of nursing degree from Kent State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Compliance and Risk Management from CWRU School of Law, expected December 2025.
