Leah Zagore, PhD

Leah Zagore, PhD (GRS ‘20, biochemistry), has been named Manager of the Advanced RNA Profiling Core at Case Western Reserve University. She brings more than 16 years of experience in RNA biology and advanced transcriptomic technologies, including CLIP-seq, ribosome profiling, single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and multi-omic data analysis.

Zagore completed her doctoral training at CWRU under Donny Licatalosi, PhD, where her work led to multiple first-author publications focused on integrating multidisciplinary approaches to study cell-specific RNA regulation. She received the Doctoral Excellence Award in Biochemistry in recognition of her graduate work. She later joined the CWRU Applied Functional Genomics Core, where she provided expertise and RNA-focused support for single-cell and spatial transcriptomic workflows.

In her new role, Zagore aims to expand services at the Advanced RNA Profiling Core, building on the core’s established strengths in CLIP-seq and ribosome profiling. Planned additions include tRNA-seq, RiboTag, TAIL-seq, disome-seq and custom bioinformatic analysis for a wide range of transcriptomic studies. Together, these methods provide a uniquely comprehensive view of gene expression regulation beyond what is possible with standard RNA-seq alone, bridging RNA expression and protein synthesis. These efforts are designed to foster greater collaboration and continue supporting cutting-edge RNA research at CWRU and beyond.
