Beginning in October, Co-Executive Directors of Sponsored Projects Accounting, Robin Trail and Joel Morales, will launch Quarterly Department Reviews to support reconciliation efforts and ensure timely project closeout.
These reviews will help departments:
- Identify projects with upcoming Final Financial Status Reports (FSRs) or Final Invoices
- Reconcile and close out projects that have ended
- Determine whether speedtypes are continuing or eligible for inactivation
- This offers an alternative to the formal inactivation form. To qualify, the speedtype must be fully balanced: expenses, income, and budget must match, with no outstanding receivables.
Important Reminder: Once a speedtype is inactivated, no further journal entries, including cost-share transfers can be processed against it.
This effort is part of a broader initiative to simplify project closeouts, enhance compliance, and promote stronger financial oversight across departments.
