Promoting Research Integrity with Our Updated COI Policy

At Case Western Reserve University, we are committed to advancing breakthrough research while maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. To support your work and comply with evolving federal sponsor regulations, the Office of Research and Technology Management (ORTM) has issued updates to the university's Conflict of Interest (COI) Policy.

What this means for you:

  • Who Must Disclose: The policy applies to all board-appointed faculty, senior staff, and any personnel designated as an "investigator" on a research protocol. Please note that individuals with no disclosable outside interests are still required to submit an annual form to maintain university compliance.
  • When to Update: In addition to your annual disclosure, you must submit an updated form within 30 days of discovering or acquiring any new outside financial interests.
  • Where to Disclose: Submissions are fully digital. Please log into SpartaCOI using your CWRU Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials to complete or refresh your disclosure.

Our goal is to protect your research, preserve academic freedom, and seamlessly manage compliance so you can focus on innovation. Review the updated policy on the CWRU COI Committee Website. If you have questions about what qualifies as an outside financial interest, reach out to us anytime at cwrucoi@case.edu.
