Reminder to pay close attention to Recap due dates

It is extremely important that you pay attention to the required due dates for returning recaps to your grant accountant. Recaps are the basis for final invoice to sponsors as well as for the preparation and submission of the Federal Financial Report (FFR) and Report of Expenditures (ROE).

Final reports and invoices are submitted to the sponsor based on the recap prepared by PASC-Sponsored Projects Accounting and certified by the department administrator/grant manager and principal investigator (PI).

Recaps not submitted by the due date may result in:

  • Not meeting the sponsor deadline for the submission of the final invoice and then sponsors unwillingness to pay the final invoice.
  • The inability to submit the FFR or ROE due to a discrepancy in the funding already requested from the sponsor and what is on the report. Making adjustments to requested funding based upon the FFR/ROE after the due date of the report requires CWRU to request permission and provide a justification for the late report to change our funding request to match the FFR/ROE. These approvals take time and are not guaranteed.

Please note: Any unrecoverable expenses will be the responsibility of the PI’s department.
