Research Security Training Required for All Grants

Case Western Reserve University now requires research security training for all senior and key personnel on all grant applications, competitive renewals, or research performance progress reports (RPPRs), regardless of funding source.

The training must be completed by the time of proposal submission, or within 12 months prior to proposal submission.

At Case Western Reserve University, senior and key personnel are defined as:

  • Individuals who participate in the design, planning and conduct of a research project; and,
  • Those designated as financial conflict of interest investigators in SpartaGrants.

Case Western Reserve University offers the hour-long training—titled “Research Security Training (Combined)”—through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program and is accessible via SpartaLearn, CWRU's learning management system. To access the training, visit CWRU's Research Security website, and click on the blue button labeled "Complete Research Security Training.”

CWRU’s Research Security office will maintain a list of those who have completed the training.

Principal investigators (PI) must ensure that all senior and key personnel on their proposal complete the training and will be required to attest to required personnel’s completion of training when submitting a proposal in SpartaGrants.
