Personnel on R&R Senior/Key Person Profile need eRA Commons ID

Per NIH NOT-OD-24-042, all personnel on the Research and Related (R&R) Senior/Key Person Profile must have an eRA Commons ID, for all grants due on or after Jan. 25, 2024.

According to the notice: Currently, applicants encounter an eRA system warning if the “Credential, e.g. agency login” field is blank or does not contain a valid eRA Commons ID. The validation will be updated from a warning to an error in mid-January in advance of due dates on or after Jan. 25, 2024. Errors must be corrected before the application can be successfully submitted to the agency. Applicants are encouraged to check that their Commons account is active well before applicable due dates.

The original notice was NOT-OD-21-109.

The requirement for eRA Commons IDs applies to Key Personnel on proposals that are not affiliated with CWRU. See FAQs for Options for obtaining an eRA Commons username (Commons ID) for a senior/key person who isn't affiliated with a registered organization.

Requests for new eRA Commons logins should be sent to medrespre@case.edu for SOM faculty and staff and resadm@case.edu for all other faculty and staff. Include:

  • First Name,

  • Last Name,

  • Current Title,

  • Department,

  • Role Requested,

  • Requested ID and

  • confirmation that the individual has not yet submitted an NIH proposal.

Please note that eRA Commons names may not be changed. It's recommended that faculty and staff use a combination of first and last name or initials.
