Case School of Engineering’s Swagelok Center for Surface Analysis of Materials (CSE-SCSAM) is a multi-user facility offering a suite of instrumentation for materials characterization through microscopy, spectroscopy, diffraction and mechanical testing. SCSAM is an interdisciplinary center that facilitates and promotes high-impact research of materials that impact humanity, science and technology to create a just and thriving world. Each year more than 150 individual researchers from the academic, non-profit, and commercial sectors recognize the advantages and benefits SCSAM delivers. From students, startup enterprises, and prominent industrial businesses, SCSAM is mindful of our customers’ requirements and partners with them to efficiently extract valuable and informative data. The equipment in SCSAM is maintained by an executive director and four staff engineers with graduate degrees and extensive experience.
