Khare, research assistant professor and research director for the National Initiative on Mixed-Income Communities, discussed initiatives aimed at assisting low-income residents get into affordable housing. “I would be most concerned about the transition in services for residents who had not only a disruption in their housing because they were forced to move out of their housing, but then they had a disruption in the kinds of ongoing supportive services intended to help them stay stable,” Khare said. “That disruption in human support can lead to residents again not trusting and questioning whether or not these programs are ultimately really meant to benefit them.”
