Aug. 25 Message to Campus: COVID-19 Dashboard and Update

To the Case Western Reserve Community:

As President Snyder wrote Sunday evening, the university is launching a weekly COVID-19 dashboard today. This page will be updated every Tuesday.

The dashboard includes data regarding testing and positive cases for the university, as well as positive cases for Cuyahoga County. Additional information regarding the county’s COVID-19 cases can be found on its website.

Testing continues this week for undergraduates living off campus but taking at least one course in person. Graduate teaching assistants, who interact with undergraduates, are the next cohort to be tested.

In addition, this evening the university closed the Wyant Athletic and Wellness Center after discovering that a symptomatic student had been in the facility earlier today. All of those individuals who had been in close contact with this student have been notified; if you have been in Wyant but have not been contacted, you are not considered to be at increased risk for infection per Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

The facility’s closure for cleaning also is in accordance with CDC guidelines.

We ask all members of the university community to continue to monitor for symptoms daily and complete the health attestation form online before coming to campus each day. Faculty, staff and students also must wear masks at all times on campus—except when alone in an office or other enclosed space. Please also maintain 6 feet of distance among one another, and regularly wash or sanitize hands throughout the day.

We appreciate all of your efforts to help keep our community healthy.
