To the Case Western Reserve Community:
We write today to reiterate the importance of leaving China as soon as possible and to provide guidance regarding those returning before the federal government’s mandatory quarantines take effect at 5 p.m. EDT tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 2).
Students in China who need assistance in leaving China should contact the Office of International Student Services (ISS) at 216.368.2517 or international@case.edu. Students who arrive (or know they will arrive) after 5 p.m. EDT Sunday should call or email ISS to alert the office that you will be subject to some form of quarantine.
Faculty and staff in China for university-related reasons can contact Mark Murray, director of immigration and HR services, at 216.368.1397 or mark.murray1@case.edu for assistance. Faculty and staff who arrive (or know they will arrive) after 5 p.m. EDT Sunday should call or email Murray to alert the office that you will be subject to some form of quarantine.
Meanwhile, those who return (or returned to the U.S. within the past 14 days) from China are advised to submit this form as soon as possible, and must do so at least three business days before returning to campus.* (If unable to access the form online, call 216.368.8708 for assistance.)
A representative of University Health Services will contact the individual within one business day of the call and/or form submission; the representative also will provide additional guidance regarding measures to follow for the 14-day period after leaving China.
These measures may include a period of self-isolation, during which the individual will remain off campus and try to avoid interacting with others. In such cases, the university will work with the individual to determine potential arrangements for off-site work and/or study.
The university will continue to provide additional updates as necessary. More information can be found on the University Health and Counseling Services website.
