March 17 Message to Faculty/Staff: Building Access and Dining Changes Starting Tomorrow

To Our Faculty and Staff Working on Campus:

We write to make you aware of two changes that take effect tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18:

Building Access

In light of the significantly reduced population on campus, we are transitioning the exterior doors of all buildings to require card swipe access 24/7. This shift will begin at 7 a.m. tomorrow.

We believe this change will enhance the safety of the campus overall, and especially that of individuals who are among a small number of people within a single space.

This change also applies to such heavily trafficked areas as the Tinkham Veale University Center, the Biomedical Research Building, and Tomlinson Hall.

If you are unable to gain access to your building (or space within it), please call the Division of Public Safety’s non-emergency number (216.368.3300). If you have questions about your card’s building access, contact Access Services at access@case.edu or 216.368.2773.

On-Campus Meals for Essential Employees

As a gesture of appreciation for those employees required to work on campus, the university is providing free boxed meals at select campus locations. The only requirement to receive a meal is to show and swipe your university ID card. Below are the times and locations where employees can pick up meals Monday through Friday:

  • BRB Café: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Tomlinson: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • TVUC-Miso: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • TVUC–826/Pinza: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • HEC Press: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

We appreciate all of the exceptional efforts that members of the university community have made in the past several days as the campus has moved to remote work and learning. Thank you for your continued dedication to Case Western Reserve, and to one another.

Sincerely,

Peter Poulos
General Counsel and Deputy Secretary
