July 24 Message to Undergraduate Students: Ohio's New Travel Advisory

To Our Undergraduates:

As you may be aware, this week Gov. Mike DeWine issued a travel advisory for people coming into Ohio from states with positive COVID-19 testing rates of 15 percent or more. Upon arrival, these individuals are expected to quarantine for 14 days.

As of now, the states cited are:

  • Alabama
  • Arizona
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Idaho
  • Mississippi
  • Nevada
  • South Carolina
  • Texas

Our records indicate that more than 400 of you live in these states. That said, we recognize that our current number is unlikely to reflect the total undergraduate population requiring quarantine housing. For example, some of you may not be spending the summer at your official residential address, while others may choose to take classes remotely this fall.

We want to move as quickly as possible to determine how best to respond to this new state development. To assist in our planning for next month, we ask that you complete this short form by 5 p.m. (EDT) Sunday, July 26.

We realize that you already received a survey from Provost Vinson earlier this week, and so apologize for imposing upon you again. Given the rapid approach of move-in, however, we want to ensure we take all appropriate measures to protect your well-being, and those of all of your classmates.

Thank you in advance for your assistance; we will provide updates next week.
