Wellness Vending Machines
Case Western Reserve and University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) have placed new wellness vending machines in a variety of campus locations to promote the health of our campus community. The machines are intended to increase access to affordable health and wellness products, particularly items that may be needed discreetly, urgently, or after hours.
Beginning in August 2024, the number of free items a student can receive will be limited according to the chart below. After a student’s free item allocation has been used, items continue to be available for purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions
Individuals who use the machines will be asked to enter a phone number before the machine can dispense an item. This phone number will be used to determine if individuals have a free allocation of that item available. Phone numbers are encrypted and stored by Longview International Technology Solutions Inc. (LTS), our vending supplier, for 7 days and then are purged from the system.
LTS will not share phone numbers or individual purchase information with CWRU, University Health & Counseling Services or any other outside entity. Please note that phone numbers were chosen, rather than email or student ID, to help protect student privacy.
A phone number is required to use the wellness vending machines. Students who do not wish to enter a phone number but are in need of reproductive health items can visit University Health & Counseling Services during business hours or pick up a free reproductive health kit at the locations listed below.

Students, faculty and staff who need COVID tests can visit University Health and Counseling Services during business hours to receive a free rapid antigen COVID test. Please note that UHCS cannot provide rapid antigen COVID tests for departments, large groups or events.
All items in the wellness vending machines are also available for purchase at local pharmacies.
A week starts from the time you received your item. For example, if you receive a free allocation of cough drops at 9 a.m. on Monday, you will not be able to receive another free allocation of cough drops until 9:01 a.m. on the following Monday.
Yes. Faculty and staff members may purchase products from the wellness vending machines; item costs are listed in the table above. Faculty and staff will receive 2 free COVID-19 rapid tests per week and 1 free KN95 mask per week,
The machines will be filled once a month. Some products may be unavailable at times.
Reproductive Health Kits
Campus community members can pick-up free reproductive health kits that include condoms, pregnancy tests, emergency contraception (Plan B) and related items from the following locations. Please check websites for office hours:
