Please join us for an outstanding Cancer Center Annual Scientific Retreat, July 7-8, 2016.
The organizing committee [Yogen Saunthararajah (Co-Chair), Nicole Steinmetz (Co-Chair), Eli Bar, Jill Barnholtz-Sloan, Barbara Bedogni, Chris Flask, Alex Huang, Ruth Keri, Goutham Narla, Nima Sharifi, Scott Welford, Qing Yi, Jennifer Yu] has put together an outstanding program. We begin in the Wolstein auditorium at 5p on Thursday, July 7 with Liz Jaffe from Johns Hopkins who will speak on cancer cellular immunotherapy and her participation in the Moonshot Blue Ribbon Panel as co-chair. This will be followed by hors-d'oeuvres and trainee posters. We have almost 100 posters to view this year. Thanks to your great work our trainees will have an incredible opportunity to present in front of the entire Cancer Center.
On Friday, the scientific sessions at Corporate College East begin at 8:15a. We will cover topics of Cancer Genetics, Cancer Prevention, New Ideas and New Initiatives, with a session on Innovative Therapeutics and Cellular Mechanisms.
Mid-day we will spend two hours in program break-out sessions reviewing pilot projects over the past two years and the draft of the scientific program right up for the competitive renewal.
Your participation is critical to the success of our retreat. Both in championing and encouraging our trainees, and participating in scientific sessions and the program sessions are important.
How we do in our competitive renewal will depend critically on your involvement in the program write-up and making sure that your research activities are listed and mentioned in those write-ups. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to meet with the program leaders to discuss the program as a whole.
I look forward to seeing you, for your comments on our retreat, and look forward to your active participation in our Cancer Center.
