A new five-year, $1.8 million award will allow Zihua Gong, MD, PhD to work to better understand the mechanisms of resistance of PARP inhibitors (PARPi) that induce cell death in BRCA1 and BRCA2-deficient cancer cells associated with breast and ovarian cancer. Assistant staff in the Department of Cancer Biology at Lerner Research Institute, assistant professor of molecular medicine at Case Western Reserve University and member of the Case CCC's Molecular Oncology Program, Gong and his team will continue to investigate protein regulations that mediate cancer cell's sensitivity to PARPi.
