Guda's Research Suggests that RNA Molecules Could Detect Aggressive Esophageal Cancer

Portrait of Kishore Guda

Research by Kishore Guda, DVM, PhD, Case CCC's Cancer Genomics and Epigenomics Program member, published this month in Gastroenterology indicates that biomarkers in throat cells may predict an individual's predisposition to developing esophageal cancer.

“Our study opens a new area of investigation by implicating these RNA molecules as additional players in esophageal cancer,” Guda said. “Our goal is to understand how and when these molecules are turned on during esophageal cancer development, and how they control other genes involved in cancer processes.”
