Faezeh Afsari joined the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center in November 2022. As Assistant Director of Research Programs, Faezeh serves as a subject matter expert on scientific and technical grant writing. Her responsibilities include working closely with the Cancer Center Director and Scientific Program Leaders to promote collaboration among members and identify and pursue new funding opportunities. Faezeh is responsible for PCP, CGE, and IO research programs.
Faezeh received her PhD in molecular and cellular biology, offered jointly by Cleveland State University and the Lerner Research Institute (LRI) of the Cleveland Clinic. Her research focus was on the molecular mechanisms of immune signaling in cancer, specifically how immune signaling is affected by oncogenes. Following her graduate work, Faezeh worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Microbial Sequencing & Analytics Core at Cleveland Clinic. During this time, using Illumina's next-generation sequencing platform, she helped investigators with sample prep, automated nucleic acid (DNA/RNA) extraction, library preparation, and microbial gene sequencing in large and small-scale projects, as well as assisting with day-to-day core operations.
