Dr. Luke Rothermel is a Surgical Oncologist who specializes in the care of patients with melanoma and soft tissue sarcomas. He joined the Division of Surgical Oncology at the Seidman Cancer Center to build on the multidisciplinary oncology effort that is given to all patients with these diseases. His research interest is in cancer immunotherapies with a focus on the modulation of immune metabolism to enhance checkpoint inhibitor therapies.
Dr. Rothermel received his medical degree from the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH. He completed his General Surgery Residency at University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University and his Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. Additionally, he completed a research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute Surgery Branch with a focus in adoptive cell transfer immunotherapies.
