Research Interests

The focus of our research has been lung malignancies and, in particular, early lepidic adenocarcinomas and the best methods of diagnosis and treating these malignancies.  We have a 500,000 DOD grant currently using CT Textural Analysis to define radigoraphicaly which cancers are invasive and require treatment and which are not and can be observed.

We have additional clinical trials in diagnosing clinical trials and we are one of the lead centers in the Medtronic NAVIGATE trial examining the effectiveness and safety of navigation bronchoscopy in diagnosing lung cancers. Other areas of research have been in esophageal surgery, early diagnosis and management of perioperative complications following esophageal cancer surgery.
