For over 30 years, Samir Abraksia has been privileged to work in underserved communities as an oncologist with a primary research focus on disparities and shared decision-making. During this period, he gained valuable experiences and earned the trust of a predominantly African-American population. He's established a successful community-based navigator program that addresses barriers to care, from screening to treatment. Abraksia has been invited to local churches, libraries, and community centers to speak on different topics related to health and wellness, which has provided him with the opportunity to work closely with community leaders on different outreach projects.
Abraksia has been involved with teaching medical students and residents since 1994, addressing medical training with an emphasis on cultural competency.
