Clarification, Updates, and Reminders

To Our Graduate and Professional Students:

While some of you started attending classes and clinical experiences already, most of you begin tomorrow—so first, welcome back!

We know you’ve received many, many emails over the past few weeks—from us and others—so we wanted to provide a few quick reminders and clarifications as the semester ramps up.

Booster Requirement: The deadline for documenting you received your booster—or requesting an exemption—was Friday, Jan. 7. If you have not done either, you are noncompliant, and will hear from university officials this week.

Surveillance Testing: Our apologies for an earlier misstatement; you only have to take two COVID-19 tests—one in each of your first two weeks on campus. Free tests are available at a dozen locations on campus. Please, please make sure that you register your CWRU Saliva PCR test on before putting it into a drop box. That registration is the only way we can identify whose sample has been submitted.

If You Test Positive: You will receive a secure message via with guidance regarding next steps. Please open and respond as quickly as possible so that health services can provide you with updated isolation information. You will receive a message from health services to share with faculty and others you need to notify. For additional information, please visit this page.

Isolation: If you test positive, you must isolate for 10 days from the date of symptom onset or the date of your test (whichever is earlier). If you have no fever and your symptoms are improving, you may take a rapid test on day six or seven. If it’s negative, you can end isolation then. For more information about isolation, please review our isolation and quarantine policies.

If You Have Other Questions: Please visit the university’s COVID-19 website and/or the University Health and Counseling Services website.
