The 2021 White Coat Ceremony was held on Thursday, August 5, celebrating the Class of 2024 and Class of 2025. Surrounding the festivities, we’re shining a light on our Class of 2024 in recognition of the unprecedented year they navigated through their D1 experience.

As the fall semester quickly approaches, we are looking forward to hosting the 2021 White Coat Ceremony in person on Thursday, August 5. The Class of 2025 event will be held at 9 a.m. and the Class of 2024 will celebrate at 2 p.m. in the Samson Pavilion Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Conference Center.

The School of Dental Medicine Special Care Dentistry Club’s mission is to expand dental clinic care and accommodations to better reach the special needs population, while also creating more opportunities for students to interact with this community.

Creating an organization to serve as a home and community to celebrate Middle Eastern and North African culture had been a priority for the School of Dental Medicine for some time. The opportunity became even more apparent in the summer of 2020 with the creation of the Cultural Roundtable.

In addition to specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries and defects of the head, mouth, teeth, gums, jaws and neck, the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department is the only five-year program of its kind across the country—which has been in existence for over 30 years.

We are pleased to announce Pamela Alston, president of the National Dental Association (NDA), as this year’s School of Dental Medicine Class of 2021 commencement speaker. Based in California, Alston will provide virtual remarks during the in-person ceremony for the graduating students on May 28 at 9:30 a.m. The event will also be livestreamed to family and friends.

The Department of Endodontics in the School of Dental Medicine focuses on the cause, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disease of the dental pulp and the tissues surrounding the root of a tooth. Just as notably, the program also specializes in preparing the next generation of high-quality endodontists to become board certified.
