OMFS Residency Program

The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Case Western Reserve University has enjoyed a rich heritage of accomplishment and surgical leadership, manifested by the numerous positions of leadership in prestigious surgical societies held by members of the CWRU surgical faculty. Most important to us, however, is the success that our former residents have experienced in their careers as they both provide surgical care to the ill and injured throughout the world and participate in the education of young surgeons. To this end, the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery faculty strives to provide an educational experience balanced between clinical service and academic endeavors that is sufficiently flexible in scope to meet the individual needs of each trainee.

Residents gain a broad experience at the various hospitals affiliated with our program. The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the School of Dental Medicine and University Hospitals/Case Medical Center of Cleveland serves as the administrative center of the residency program. However, the surgical residents rotate at the Cleveland Veterans Administration Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic. This schedule ensures that our residents not only gain experience in all of the essential areas of clinical surgery but do so in a varied environment, thereby preparing them for whatever type of practice they choose to enter.

Together, the entire faculty is committed to the pursuit of excellence in both the clinical and academic arenas. I can assure prospective applicants that our team will do our utmost to make your surgical education pertinent, meaningful, exciting, and enjoyable; we welcome your interest in our residency and hope that you will enjoy your trip through our website.
