Paid Parental Leave
Within 12 months of the birth or adoption of a child, parents are able to receive paid parental leave in conjunction with the FMLA leave through the Family and Medical Leave Act.
- Birth mothers and fathers, adoptive parents, and foster parents can receive up to six weeks of paid parental leave.

Benefits
As a qualifying life event, birth and adoption allow you to change your benefits without waiting for the open enrollment period. This allows you to add your child to your benefits package through Benelect and keep them under your coverage until the age of 26.
Birth or adoption must be reported within 30 days with the appropriate documentation.
