Event Description
On Friday, October 9, the 11th Annual Trade Law Fall Update will provide expert insight on the need-to-know issues facing the trade and customs community, including new tariffs, refunds, and important policy developments. The program will be accessible online via Zoom and free of charge.
The opening panel will address current compliance challenges facing companies with global supply chains. This panel will address the new Section 301 tariffs penalizing countries that don’t ban forced labor imports; new developments in customs enforcement and the impact of country-of-origin rulings on non-MFN tariffs; and the often-surprising concepts of scope and circumvention in trade law.
The next panel will analyze the state of play on refunds of the IEEPA tariffs, refund litigation, what to do now to get duties repaid, and potential class actions for refunds. Our experts will also bring you up to speed on other tariff challenges in U.S. courts – including litigation on the Section 122 surcharge and Section 301 forced-labor tariffs. Breaking news and hot topics of the day in trade and Customs law will be the focus of our third, rapid-round morning panel.
The program’s capstone will be a Keynote Roundtable on prospects for USMCA and the future of North American automotive jobs, production and growth.
The Hon. Leo M. Gordon, U.S. Court of International Trade Judge, will offer concluding remarks, and Professor Colares will make a brief farewell comment to the Update’s online audience.
