Dedicated Scholarships

As part of CWRU’s comprehensive financial aid program--ranked fifth in the nation by Business Insider--the Burke Center for Environmental Law offers scholarships to outstanding applicants in environmental law.


The Burke Center for Environmental Law offers students fellowship opportunities to work on Center projects, programs, and publications.


Students have the opportunity to pursue externships in environmental law in a wide array of organizations and agencies. In recent years, students have had externships at the following:

  • Center for International Environmental Law

  • City of Shaker Heights Law Department

  • Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services

  • NFIB Small Business Legal Center

  • U.S. Coast Guard

  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

  • Western Reserve Land Trust


LEAF– Law for Environment, Animals, and Food – is a student-led organization striving to facilitate opportunities for students to learn about, and participate in, different areas of the law and policy surrounding animals, food, and the environment. LEAF sponsors events on a range of environmental, food, and animal-related issues, often featuring guest speakers from local non-profit organizations and agencies.
