At Case Western Reserve University School of Law, we’re known for our specialties—so much so you can earn a concentration in a specific area to customize your Juris Doctor (JD) degree. Our concentrations combine rigorous coursework, practical experience and scholarship, giving you the expertise to stand out in your chosen field.

Faculty expertise and curricular strengths make these concentrations possible, but you can also choose to study courses across specialty areas without earning a concentration.

Earn a Concentration in Your Specialty

All concentrations share a common foundation designed to ensure academic excellence and professional readiness:

  • Integrated coursework: Each concentration includes required and elective courses tailored to your area of focus.
  • Research and writing: You’ll complete a substantial research paper in your field of concentration.
  • Honors recognition: Earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in all designated courses to receive a designation of honors in that specialty.
  • Certificate of completion: Receive a certificate at graduation, recognizing your advanced training in your concentration.
