Externships

Our externship program offers you the opportunity to work with and learn from industry executives in the legal fields that interest you. Externship opportunities are available to students on a competitive basis following completion of the sports or entertainment courses. The cost of the externship through the GLSLEA is dependent upon your home institution: For CWRU Law students, externships will be completed through the CWRU Law externship program at the standard cost. For non-CWRU Law students, 1 or 2-credit externships can be completed at $1,000 or $2,000. Non-CWRU Law students are responsible for ensuring their home institution will accept the externship credits.

Independent Legal Research

In addition to externships, the GLSELA offers students the opportunity to complete focused legal research on a topic of their choosing under the supervision of the GLSELA faculty. 1 or 2 additional credits will be granted to students that complete independent legal research, depending on the length of the research (10 pages, excluding footnotes, per credit). The cost of the legal research credits is $1,000 per credit. Non-CWRU Law students are responsible for ensuring their home institution will accept the legal research credits.
