Joel Morales joined Case Western Reserve University in November 2015. He is currently the executive director of financial compliance within the Office of Research Administration (ORA). Joel is committed to fostering a culture of excellence and integrity in research management.
Leading with a vision to ensure compliant, efficient, and effective post-award financial stewardship of sponsored projects, Joel oversees and directs the university's reporting processes, while ensuring the efficacy of the audit function within the ORA. His responsibilities encompass a wide array of crucial tasks, including institutional audits, project compliance, and individual employee adherence.
Joel's expertise extends to sub-recipient monitoring, effort reporting, expense oversight and project non-financial closeouts. He diligently manages key aspects like adding sponsors, conducting monthly departmental reviews and handling cash advances. Additionally, Joel plays a pivotal role in managing awards with modified direct total costs, ensuring meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of financial management.
A graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor's degree, Joel furthered his education by earning a master's degree in healthcare management from the esteemed CWRU Weatherhead School of Management in 2021.
