We recognize the following week has been very challenging for all faculty and students during the evolving crisis related to COVID-19. As we continue to adjust to multiple demands, we would like to provide some guidance with respect to the Academic Advising process.
As you know, all students have an Academic Advising hold in SIS. The hold has been placed to remind students to meet with their Academic Advisor prior to registering for courses. Once you have met with your advisee, the hold can be released. Below you will find instructions on releasing the advising hold in SIS.
Faculty Advising Holds
Summer 2020 Registration opens for On-Campus, Intensive Weekend and Master of Nonprofit Management students on Wednesday, March17, 2020 at 7:00am. Fall 2020 Registration opens for all students on Monday, March 30, 2020 at 7:00am.
Programs are now available to view online..
During this time, we urge you to reach out to your student advisees who might need your advice and consultation in response to registration, POE updates or other academic concerns. It is our expectation that all students preparing to register will receive individual advising attention as they would during normal campus operations. As you conduct your academic advising sessions, we strongly suggest that you utilize Zoom technology to conduct your advising meetings, as well as record the session for the students' benefit.
As you prepare to conduct academic advising sessions, please respond to this email with a brief response to these four questions:
- Are you equipped and ready to conduct academic advising sessions?
- Have you contacted your student advisees?
- Are your students prepared to register for summer and/or fall courses? and
- Do you have any concerns or issues with with the advising process?
For additional information and resources related to the delivery of remote education, please refer to the email sent by Provost Vinson on Sunday, March 15th. As an FYI, a comparable email will be sent to students encouraging them to initiate an advising appointment with you.
