Event Description
“Government of the people, by the people, for the people.” That is a phrase that many Americans are aware of, but what does government for the people look like? And how can an individual successfully interact with their local elected officials beyond simply casting a ballot on election day?
United Way's next Community Conversation will focus on the best way to communicate and engage with local government officials to navigate city and county governments. Their panel of elected officials from Cleveland and Cuyahoga County will offer insights on the role that elected officials play at each level of government, how they can help their constituents in a meaningful way, when to engage with your legislator and where to go for help.
The panelists will share their current priorities and how they are working to make a positive impact in their districts and wards in what is sure to be an enlightening and educational discussion.
Panelists:
- Blaine A. Griffin, Cleveland City Council President
- Pernel Jones Jr., Cuyahoga County Council President
