Kathleen Farkas, associate professor, and Richard Romaniuk, senior lecturer, were invited to speak at the first International Scientific–Practical Conference held May 20–21, 2021 in Ukraine. The theme of the conference was "Innovative Potential of Social Work in the Modern World: On the Border of Science and Practice."
Farkas and Romaniuk spoke about approaches to trauma-informed care and trauma interventions via Zoom to an international audience of social work researchers and practitioners.
The conference was sponsored by the Chernihiv National University of Technology; it was co-sponsored by the Mandel School and several universities in western and central Europe.
The involvement with the Chernihiv National University of Technology in Ukraine is an extension of Farkas and Romaniuk's collaboration with the Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland.
