WKYCRobert Fischer, associate professor at the Mandel School and co-director of the school’s Center on Urban Poverty and Community Development, explained the difference between a tax credit and a tax deduction, the latter of which was proposed by Gov. Mike DeWine in his annual State of the State address. “A deduction is going to have restricted benefit to families because it’s only going to be yielded to those families actually facing a tax outlay,” he said.
