Applying for Admission

The first step towards your future at Case Western Reserve is to apply for admission. Whether you’re a traditional undergraduate, transfer or graduate student, there’s a place for you at CWRU.

Navigate to the section below for instructions on how to start your application process.

Steps for Transfer Undergraduate Admission

You should apply as a transfer student if you have attended another college or university, even if you were only enrolled for one semester.

  1. Check our deadlines. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Students must be admitted by February 1 to be eligible for a special award.
  2. Submit the online application.
  3. Ask your high school to send your official transcript. All freshmen are required to submit an official transcript from their secondary school. Please have them sent directly:

    Case Western Reserve University
    Undergraduate Admissions Office
    10900 Euclid Ave.
    Cleveland, Ohio 44106-7055
    Phone: 216.368.4450
    Email: admission@case.edu

  4. Report your ACT and/or SAT scores to us. You may self-report your ACT and/or SAT scores on the application. Applicants who are admitted and choose to matriculate at CWRU will be required to provide official results prior to enrolling. CWRU does super score, meaning during the review process, the admission office is reviewing the highest sections from all SAT tests and/or the highest sections from all ACT tests.
  5. Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor. You may send an email request from our online application or download a recommendation form: Counselor Recommendation Form.
  6. You may submit an optional essay about a topic of your choice or submit a resume of your extracurricular activities in school or work history since graduation.
  7. Upon admission, pay your enrollment deposit by May 1 to reserve a place in the class.
