JP Graulty, MA is Program Manager of the Community Innovation Network at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. Previously, JP served for 4.5 years as the Assistant Director for Community Partnerships in the Center for Service and Social Action at John Carroll University, where he built relationships of mutual trust with people from 75 different non-profit and public community organizations to bridge divisions between the university and the communities of Northeast Ohio. JP has also done community building work for the Coalition with Young Adults in Cleveland, a regional network for Catholic young adults, and for Catholic Charities Migration and Refugee Services, helping connect refugees to healthcare institutions.
JP is a Case Western Reserve University alum, graduating with BA degrees in Economics and International Studies in 2010. He later went on to receive a MA degree in Pastoral Ministry from the University of Dayton in 2017. JP has also completed trainings in Asset Based Community Development, and Facilitating Community Conversations with the Community Innovation Network. In 2017-2018, JP was selected to participate in the Ohio Civic Engagement Facilitator Training with Essential Partners, where he learned how to facilitate Dialogue Groups across differences using the Reflective Structured Dialogue and Sustained Dialogue models.
JP also has a background in research, having worked as a research assistant in the Case Western Reserve University Department of Economics to work on original research that he designed for his Honors Thesis Capstone. Later, JP also worked in U.S. Senator, Sherrod Brown’s office to research the impact of the Small Business Administration Loan Program expansion, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, on Ohio businesses and manufacturers.
In addition to his work, JP Graulty is an active member of the community. He serves as Treasurer on the Board of Trustees of the InterReligious Task Force on Central America, a Cleveland-based interfaith group that promotes peace and human rights in Central American and Colombia. JP’s community building work was recently recognized by Case Western Reserve University when he was named the 2019 Young Alumni Award winner.
