Stephanie Roy joined the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences as a research associate in July 2024. She has her MPH and BSPH from Kent State University, specializing in health education and health policy management. Her professional journey began working in the community with individuals struggling with substance abuse and behavioral health disorders. The work she did consisted of advocating for individuals and addressing social determinants of health to help them gain independence. Moving forward, her career progressed to addressing health inequities that contributed to disproportionate health outcomes in population groups. She focused on improving health equity in multiple focus areas including HPV prevention, infant mortality, diabetes, heart disease, and end stage renal disease. This included addressing health equity from the organizational level and community level by developing diversity, equity, and inclusion training, creating accessible community health programs, and increasing awareness and understanding of health disparities.
