Cancer's most complex challenges require researchers who can bridge genetics, epidemiology, biostatistics, computer science, and cancer biology. The Computational Genomic Epidemiology of Cancer (CoGEC) program prepares postdoctoral fellows to thrive in this interdisciplinary environment through advanced coursework, collaborative research, and mentorship across multiple scientific disciplines.

About the Program

CoGEC combines three core training components:

  • Complete a specialized five-course core curriculum covering computational genomic epidemiology and its intersecting disciplines.
  • Pursue additional coursework tailored to your research interests and educational background.
  • Conduct collaborative research with mentors from multiple disciplines and develop a mock NIH research proposal.

By connecting diverse fields of expertise, CoGEC equips fellows with the knowledge and collaborative skills needed to understand the genetic and environmental factors that influence cancer risk, prevention, and treatment, helping translate complex data into discoveries that improve patient care.
