Research participants have commonly been found to lack basic understanding of fundamental aspects of the studies in which they are participating. The informed consent process is one of many aspects of research that should be periodically examined in an attempt to restore trust in the research process and also to increase inclusion of minority groups. The Case Center for Reducing Health Disparities has developed a guide titled “Reshaping Research.” to fill gaps in cultural competency education training for researchers.
