Residents planning to move out March 22 at Noon should follow the instructions below.
Staff will check for any damage and complete the room inventory in your absence. Please note that if your roommate/suitemate has done an Express Checkout, two staff members may enter to check the condition of the space at any time and without notice (they will knock, of course).
Much of the information will reflect the details posted by University Health and Counseling Services and Student Affairs. For specifics on the check out process scroll down to 'Check Out Process.'

Students Who Have Already Packed Belongings and Left Campus
If you and your belongings have left campus already and you have completed check out on MyHousing, we thank you.
If you and your belongings have left campus already and you live in a First Year Experience building, Clarke Tower, or Stephanie Tubbs Jones and DID NOT check out on MyHousing, please do so following the instructions below.
If you and your belongings have left campus already and you live in one of the following areas—Alumni, Glaser, Howe, Kusch, Michelson, Property Management Apartments, Staley, Tippit, The Village, Triangle Apartments, and all Greek Houses—but you DID NOT leave your key in an express checkout envelope before you left campus, please mail your key within two business days to one of the following addresses:

Please also send an email to housing@case.edu to let us know you checked out without turning in an express checkout envelope. This way we will know to expect your keys and/or key card in the mail.
Students Who Will be Coming to Campus to Pack All Belongings Before Noon, March 22: Check Out Process
Depending on your building, the move out process will be different. Express Checkout is available for all communities, allowing residents to check out at any time.
Check Out through MyHousing
This information is for residents of: Cutler, Clarke Tower, Hitchcock, Pierce, Norton, Raymond, Sherman, Smith, Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Storrs, Taft, Taplin, and Tyler Residence Halls.
To complete your check out:
- Remove all belongings from your room
- Clean and return the room to its original condition
- Shut and lock your door
- Checkout through My Housing
Using MyHousing to Check Out
- Go to your MyHousing page
- Under "Actions" select: Check out of [building & room number]
- In the following window confirm your check out (your student ID will no longer unlock your door, make sure you do this step last.
Check Out with Envelope
This information is for residents of: Alumni, Glaser, Howe, Kush, Michelson, Staley, Tippit Residence Halls, Property Management Apartments, The Village at 115th, Triangle Apartments, and all Greek Houses.
To complete your check out:
- Remove all belongings from your room
- Clean and return the room to its original condition
- Shut and lock your door
- Retrieve an envelope, available by the Express Checkout box for your Area:
- Carlton Road - boxes are on the first floor of each building (in the lobby or next to the office)
- Murray Hill - boxes are on the first floor of each building
- The Village, Property Management Apartments - boxes are in the Village 3A Office, behind Starbucks and the Village 6 Kitchen
- Triangle Apartments - boxes are on the first floor of Tower 2, across from the elevator
- Greek Houses - boxes are in Fribley and Wade Commons
Completing the Check Out Envelope
- On the envelope, please write your name (first and last), network ID, building, and room number
- Seal the envelopes with a piece of tape (rolls provided near the Express Checkout boxes)
- Put the completed envelope into the Express Checkout box
Students Unable to Return to Campus Prior to Noon, March 22
First, please visit MyHousing and select the “Notify housing of deferred checkout” option in the website navigation.
For the safety of your belongings and the safety of those students still residing on campus, students and parents or guardians cannot have a third party (e.g. other family members, hired movers, etc.) pack a student’s room and belongings.
As per the direction from the Vice Presidents of Student Affairs and Campus Services, residents' belongings that were left on campus will be packed by CWRU-affiliated contracts. Please review the letters from the Vice Presidents for more information.
